Teeth in a Day

Sometimes referred to as All on 4, Teeth in a Day is a revolutionary advancement in restorative dentistry. This treatment, which is based upon research and clinic trials spanning nearly 20 years, is a permanent solution for patients with missing teeth. Using this treatment method, the periodontist is able to replace the missing teeth with implants and prosthetic teeth or dentures on the same day, rather than needing the patient to wait to have the fixtures applied to the implants. Hence the name, the patient is able to come out of their appointment with a functioning set of teeth in one day. This treatment is also more cost-effective than traditional methods of replacement teeth. Healing time is greatly reduced, and patients can have multiple or a full mouth  of  teeth replaced during the first appointment. The patient leaves their appointment with a completely renewed smile.

Teeth in a Day is different from regular dentures in that they are not removable, and they also serve to maintain the size of the jaw in patients who are missing all of their teeth (with older style removable dentures, the jaw can shrink over time). Usually, the treatment is done by inserting four titanium implants into the gum line of either the upper or lower jaw. A temporary tooth or set of teeth will then be affixed to the implant as the patient waits for their permanent prosthetic teeth to be fitted. These permanent teeth are created in a dental lab, where they are carefully crafted to mimic the look of the patient’s teeth, and to be durable enough to last a lifetime.

The prosthetic teeth look and feel just like natural teeth do, and are relatively as easy to keep clean with regular brushing and flossing. After the implants are inserted, the patient can expect some tenderness as the gums heal. Complete healing can take one to two months. Although this procedure only requires one to three visits, the staff at NL Periodontics will be available to you during all stages of the healing process to address any questions or concerns that may arise.
